A Gaffney tool manufacturer is the winner of a global award for the Last Drop Wrench. The innovative tool was named runner-up for the Best New Tools & Equipment Product 2022 at the SEMA trade show this week in Las Vegas. CEO Steve Owens, pictured left, was also honored with a SEMA Global Media Award, which recognizes the best products from the show based on their level of international consumer appeal.

The Last Drop Wrench is a patent-pending tool designed to drain all the oil out of a filter before it’s removed, speeding up oil changes and preventing spills and burns. Steve had the idea for the tool after experiencing oil spills and burns himself working a summer job at a car dealership.

Both Steve and Chief Experience Officer, Chris Woodruff, received MBAs in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Clemson University. Steve says his exposure to entrepreneurship was the catalyst for launching his senior project idea into an award-winning product. Distribution will soon extend to Canada, Chile, and Honduras as a result of exposure from the SEMA Global Media Award.
