Coffee for change program fights opioid crisis. Graphic with coffee for change logo and Just Say Something logo.GREENVILLE, South Carolina – The founders of Compass Craft Roasters, a local coffee roasting company, have teamed up with non-profits to inspire community action through their new initiative, “Coffee for Change.” The program seeks to unite coffee lovers and charitable organizations to create meaningful social impact in South Carolina.

Coffee for Change is launching a special campaign with the goal of selling 10,000 bags of coffee during Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign to raise awareness about drug addiction that runs from October 23 – 31.

Coffee for Change gives consumers a simple yet powerful way to contribute to local causes. When customers purchase from GetCoffeeForChange.com, 100% of the profits go directly to charities like Just Say Something (JSS), a Greenville-based non-profit dedicated to preventing youth substance abuse and addressing the growing opioid crisis.

Roy Davenport joined the board of Just Say Something after tragically losing his son, Scott, to an opioid overdose in 2015. Scott had struggled with addiction to pain pills, which escalated to heroin and cocaine. Despite being sober for two years, rebuilding his life, and finding new stability, Scott was found dead by his employer in a bathroom. The cause of death ruled to be a fentanyl overdose. He was only 38. Roy shares that the hardest moment wasn’t learning of his son’s death—but telling his 12-year-old granddaughter that her father was gone.

After joining JSS, Roy launched a support group for families who’ve lost loved ones to addiction. Today, he’s helping to spread the word about Coffee for Change, hoping it will drive support to JSS and other vital community organizations.

Coffee drinkers can use promo code sccoffeeperks at checkout for $2 off every bag in their first order. Monthly subscriptions are also available, allowing customers to support local charities throughout the year while enjoying their daily brew.
