May 8, 2019, Summerville, S.C. – SCRA announced the recent acceptance of five Client Companies into its entrepreneurial program, SC Launch. Client Companies receive mentoring and support services and may also be eligible for funding.
Coastal Companies
COI-Verify has created a patented, cloud-based insurance verification software to ensure coverage and compliance of subcontractors, vendors, service providers or any third party. The company’s platform transfers the risk created by a contract to the responsible party, confirms the insured party’s coverage meets its minimum insurance policy requirements and sends alerts if a policy is not in compliance throughout the life of the contract.
Pensievision, Inc. has developed a 3D medical imaging technology for early-stage detection and analysis of cancers, initially focusing on cervical cancer. The company’s imaging platform provides instant diagnostics, on location, avoiding the need for lab infrastructure, reducing waiting times and reducing additional visits to the clinic. In 2018, the company was awarded a National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research grant to further research and development. Pensievision aims to provide more favorable cancer screening methods that are easier to use, more accessible and lower cost.
Upstate Companies
DeSol Power Tiles has developed a complete solution of solar panels with an aesthetically pleasing design that will not compromise overall building design. The solar panels mirror traditional roofing tiles, are easy to mount and are hurricane resistant up to a Category 5. Manufacturing is completed at iTEch in Westminister.
MIPY has developed, designed and patented a simpler solution for epinephrine delivery, which is typically used to combat severe allergic reactions. The company’s solution is much smaller, uses less parts, requires less force to activate and promises to be a less expensive alternative to current epinephrine auto-injectors. Additionally, other medications can be loaded into the MIPY device to help reduce cost of auto-injector medications. Through strategic partnerships with organizations such as Digitize Designs, Florence Darlington Technical College’s SiMT and Nephron Pharmaceuticals, the company is working to prototype, manufacture and fill the MIPY device completely in South Carolina.
Surcee has created a giving and sharing social platform that allows users to define what moves them and share that knowledge with those in their circle. The platform aggregates multiple merchant products into one place, streamlining the joy of sending a surcee, a thoughtful gift. Surcee.com serves e-commerce stores by directing consumers with purchase intent to complete the sales cycle.
